Data Dictionary
If you are planning an IDEAL application
conversion or DATACOM data migration project, m2o can provide a
system analysis to assess the feasibility and benefits. For
this analysis m2o uses its I2C Data Dictionary tool to help
identify suitable applications and data for a comprehensive
pilot project.
Based on detailed 'discovery' data produced by the Data
Dictionary, m2o can estimate the potential costs and timeframes
of a conversion project. m2o are experts in identifying the
potential risks involved in a migration / conversion project and
reducing these to the absolute minimum, while clearly
articulating the benefits and potential ROI.
Extracting Entities For Conversion
When requesting a comprehensive system analysis
please provide the following. All should be in
electronic format no hard copies are required. Once you have
extracted the files, please transport them in ASCII format to
your local PC, zip the files and forward them:

An export of the
PROGRAMS, PANELS and REPORTS. You will need to use the
CA-IDEAL Source transport facility. See the BATCH users
guide. Export all into one file if you wish |

An export of any
sequential Dataviews. Use the CA-IDEAL source transport
facility to obtain this |
| 3. |
A print of all
Dataviews in a file. Use the PRINT DATAVIEW command in
BATCH CA-IDEAL and override DD statement PRTLIST. Make
sure you get all and you pick up the V PROD Dataviews |
| 4. |
A print of all
modelled sequential Dataviews (see above) |
| 5. |
A BTG export. See your
DBA of the Tables you will be converting. Use the
following example JCL and PATH definitions to create a
file to download to the PC. Please check the DEF TRACE
definitions, as these are not the normal definitions
that are used. Datacom 7.5 sites, please substitute FILE
where appropriate |
