CA-IDEAL Conversion Tools Overview

Overview

There are several products that make up the m2o conversion family. Each product is available separately; they have also been designed to function as a suite of tools.
Data Dictionary
The dictionary examines the existing systems structure and allows the optimisation of its performance by normalising any data structures and identifying and removing any redundant code. For more information refer to the PRE-CONVERSION PROCESS OVERVIEW.
 

Panel Converter

This tool converts Ideal panels to Cobol, Java or CICS/BMS, depending on the chosen platform.
 

I2C

I2C converts CA-IDEAL and METACOBOL programs, panels and reports into Cobol. For more information refer to the I2C DESCRIPTION.
 

DBNTRY Replacement Generator

The DBNTRY API replacement generator generates a replacement module to access the new database. The new module is generated based on a model defined by the existing calls in the application, the CA-Datacom structure and the new database structure. Data Migrator

The Data Dictionary is used to take the Datacom Dataview definitions as the basis for generating equivalent SQL table and view definitions. These are then used to generate Datacom unload programs and SQL load programs. COBOL copy files for the data definition of host variables are also generated.
 

Report Painter and Panel Painter
